Wrestlemania in London? Boris Johnson’s up for it

Carl Anka

Wrestlemania in London? In the noble sport of professional wrestling, don’t count anything out.

London Mayor Boris Johnson has said he is “dead keen” on bringing WWE’s premier wrestling event to the capital one day.

During a Twitter Q&A about London’s future, one wrestling fan asked him about the possibility of bringing the likes of John Cena, the Undertaker, Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks and more for a show.

Surprisingly, it seems Johnson comes from a lineage of wrestlers and would be up for bringing Wrestlemania over to the United Kingdom.

WWE have staged pay per view events in London before, most recently at NXT Takeover: London in December 2015. Wembley Stadium famously hosted SummerSlam in 1992, where Bret Hart defeated British Bulldog to retain the Intercontinental title.

Boris may be giving up the London mayorship soon but he may just have opened the envelope for would be candidates like Zac Goldsmith and Sadiq Khan. Go on boys, one of you try to get that young person vote by lobbying for a future Wrestlemania.

Incidentally, here’s Donald Trump eating a Stone Cold Stunner at Wrestlemania 23.

Wrestlemania 32 will be in Arlington, Texas this year on April 3 with Roman Reigns v Triple H as the main event. It will be available to watch on the WWE Network.Â
