Wouldn't want to bump into this Ed in a dark alleyway

A new wax work of Ed Sheeran has been unveiled in Germany, and it's safe to say it's a unique portrayal of the singer-songwriter.

The like-life impression of Sheeran, created by Lisa Büscher, made its official debut at the Panoptikum Museum in Hamburg on Thursday.

Supported by a dedicated team, the Berlin-based artist had been working on the sculpture since autumn.

The work was Büscher's first wax project, and she admitted it was "challenging."

Speaking to local media at the unveiling, Büscher described the process of designing "Ed Sheeran's many tattoos" as an "intricate and time-consuming feature of the project."

Although the waxwork is undeniably bears a resemblance to the Shape of You singer, it's perhaps not the most flattering sculpture.

The eyes in particular have strong sense of weariness and age to them.

But Büscher nailed the singer's style, with a black t-shirt over a long-sleeved white top, baggy jeans and red high-top sneakers.

The waxwork is also holding an acoustic Little Martin guitar across his shoulder.

Taking to Twitter, one person said the wax work was "freaking them out."

Another said: "There's a new Ed Sheeran wax figure in Germany and well..."

Büscher put a lot of work into the little details such as the tattoos, saying that "every tattoo has a special meaning" for Ed.

The sculpture will be placed in the museum's 'British triangle' alongside waxworks of Adele and Queen Elizabeth II.
