Bus driver dies after falling ill at the wheel and crashing into garden wall

The double-decker bus was left perched on a wall in the front garden of a house

A bus driver has died after falling ill at the wheel and crashing into a garden.

The man was driving through Oldbury in the West Midlands this morning when he suffered a ‘medical episode’.

Emergency services were called to the scene after the double-decker bus crashed into the wall of a front garden.

Sadly, paramedics were unable to save the driver’s life despite their best efforts.

Pictures from the scene of the incident showed the bus wedged on top of a small garden wall, inches from a house.

The sign on the front of the bus read ‘not in service’ and a road was cordoned off after emergency services arrived.

In a tweet sharing pictures of the accident, @PokeGirlLauren wrote: “Wolverhampton Road is closed at the moment, This happened just over the road from me. Hope everyone is ok.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “A bus driver has died after suffering a medical episode in Oldbury this morning.

“The bus collided with a wall at the junction of Titford Road and Wolverhampton Road at around 7.40am.

“There were no passengers on the bus and no one else has been injured. Road closures are in place which will be lifted in due course.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man.”
