Two people, including the bride and a guest, were shot dead after gunmen opened fire at a wedding.
The incident occurred at a wedding reception in Goult, Vaucluse in around 4.30am this morning.
Three others were left injured in the attack.
The fatal incident took place when four hooded attackers began firing as the bride and groom were leaving the village hall in a car with their 13-year-old son.
In an escape attempt, the groom reversed his car, hitting one of the four male attackers.
The bride as well as the other victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
News outlet France 3 reported that the groom and the child were seriously hurt, while another guest sustained minor injuries.
They also reported that one of the four assailants died during the incident, ‘probably hit by the groom’s car.'
Police are currently searching for the other three attackers.
Local media outlets have said no theories of a motive had been ruled out. They further reported that police are considering whether the attack was related to drugs.
Local outlets also reported that the groom was known to police over charges of criminal conspiracy and drug violations.
