Brian Laundrie's remains will be cremated, but he will have no funeral

Autopsy results of the body came back inconclusive

The parents of Brian Laundrie will cremate his remains with no funeral or service, as his cause of death remains a mystery.

The news that Laundrie will have no funeral was reportedly revealed by the Laundrie family’s attorney, Steven Bertolino. After cremation, Laundrie’s ashes will be given to his parents.

Remains belonging to the 23-year-old were found in a Florida park last week, bringing an end to the extensive search for him.

He was the sole person of interest in the investigation into the disappearance and death of his fiancée Gabby Petito.

Laundrie’s remains were found more than a month after he had gone missing. He had reportedly told his parents that he was going for a hike in the Carlton Reserve area of a Florida-based national park.

Last week, the FBI confirmed that the human remains found belonged to Laundrie.

In a statement they said: “On October 21, 2021, a comparison of dental records confirmed that the human remains found at the T. Mabry Carlton, Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park are those of Brian Laundrie.

“The FBI is grateful for the tremendous investigative support from our partners.”

His cause of death is still not known, with autopsy results coming back inconclusive.

Dental records were used to identify the remains as Laundrie’s, which consisted of “bones”, according to Insider.

The remains were confirmed as belonging to Brian Laundrie exactly a month after Petito’s remains were identified. A coroner ruled Petito died of strangulation.

The couple had gone travelling together in July this year but on September 1, Laundrie returned to his family home in Florida on his own.

10 days later, Petito’s family reported her as missing.

Laundrie was then named by local police as a person of interest in the investigation into her disappearance but on September 17 he was reported as missing, having been last seen three days earlier when he had said he was going on a hike.

Since then a search had been underway for him, with teams spending weeks searching Carlton Reserve, a 24,000-acre park in Florida.
