Former guitarist of the band Babyshambles, Patrick Walden, has died aged 46.
The band announced the sad news on social media last night in a statement.
The band wrote: "It is with deep regret and sadness that we share the news of Patrick Walden’s death.
"We feel very fortunate to have known/loved and worked with him and we kindly ask for respect and privacy during these difficult times.
"Peter, Drew, Mik, Adam. x"
His cause of death has not been confirmed.
As well as playing for James Blunt, Walden co-wrote many of the Babyshambles songs, including six of the sixteen on the band's debut album.
Walden left the band in 2006 after failing to join their UK tour.
Walden was in a number of London bands prior to joining the Babyshambles, including Fluid, the Six Cold Thousand and White Sport.
Pete Doherty of The Libertines once called Walden “the best guitar player I’ve ever worked with”, and many fans echoed this sentiment.
One person wrote on Instagram: "THE best guitarist of his generation, such an exciting and original person to watch. RIP"
Another commenter said: "So sad to hear this. So sorry. He was an incredible person and guitar player a sound like no other."
Meanwhile one fan put: "I’m devastated by this news. Pat was a kind soul. I remember his kind words and how he helped me after I was assaulted in Camden. An incredible musician. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones."
Some of the Babyshambles biggest hits include song like Killamangiro, Fuck Forever and Delivery.
Delivery reached number six in the UK charts in 2007.
