A man was seen entering the building with a machete

Armed police stormed Sony Music’s London headquarters this morning.

Early reports say a man with a machete was seen entering the building in Kensington’s Derry Street, before firearms officers, the Metropolitan Police and paramedics were called to the scene.

Before office workers were evacuated from the building reports claim they hid under tables amid reports of a fight between two chefs in which one was stabbed with a seven-inch kitchen knife.

A man was arrested following news that two people were injured, one of whom was taken to hospital and the a major trauma centre, although it’s being reported their injuries are not life-threatening.

One of the injured was seen being wheeled away on a stretcher, while onlookers also caught a glimpse of a man being led away in handcuffs.

Workers inside the building that houses Sony imprints RCA, Columbia, Black Butter Records and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, spoke of their ordeal to the Standard:

“It was between two kitchen staff. They were in uniform.

“There was a lot of shouting and commotion. It looked like they were having a fight. One had fallen over and was on his back and the other was standing over him. I thought he was raining punches down, but then I saw the knife.

“It was about six or seven inches long, and he was standing over him trying to get him, stabbing downwards as the other man put his arms up to defend himself.

“He was going nuts. There was a lot of shouting.

“Other staff were standing around – they didn’t want to get too close because he had a massive knife.”

The same witness said they saw the victim stabbed in the upper thigh, before the pair were separated.

“The guy with the leg injury had a towel wrapped around his leg, and the attacker was sitting down on the floor, still obviously very angry, with people trying to calm him down, and paper towels wrapped around his arm.”

The witness added there were two pools of blood on the floor, while another woman looked like she had been hurt after apparently falling over in the commotion.

More on the story as it breaks.
