She praised Heard for ‘being the voice of so many who can’t speak to the things that happen behind closed doors’

Amber Heard’s sister has made her first public comments following the conclusion of the defamation trial between Heard and Johnny Depp.

Last week, a jury found Heard guilty of defaming Depp, and ordered her to pay her former husband $10m in compensatory damages.

Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez, took the stand on her sister’s behalf during the trial, claiming that Depp once hit her and called her a “f***cking whore.”

Henriquez has since taken to Instagram to break her silence following the trial’s conclusion last week.

She shared a picture of a black square with ‘#istandwithamberheard’ written on it.

In the caption for the post, she wrote: “Yesterday, today and tomorrow I will always be proud of you for standing up for yourself, for testifying both here in Virginia and in the UK, and for being the voice of so many who can’t speak to the things that happen behind closed doors.

“We knew that this was going to be an uphill battle and that the cards were stacked against us. But you stood up and spoke out regardless.

“I am so honored to testify for you, and I would do it a million times over because I know what I saw and because the truth is forever on your side.”

She added that she was sorry the truth “wasn’t reflected” in the jury’s decision, but that she will “never give up” on her sister.

Following the jury’s decision, Heard’s lawyer has since said there is “no way” her client can pay the $10m to Depp.

The jury had initially awarded Depp $5m in punitive damages as well. However, this was later reduced to $350,000 as that is the legal limit in Virginia, where the trial took place.
