‘He sounded like an animal in pain when he was saying that he ‘f***ing hated’ me’
Amber Heard has told a court that she thought Johnny Depp was going to kill her “without realising it” as the trial between her and her former husband continues.
As part of her testimony, Heard said that she hit Depp during a 2015 fight at their apartment in Los Angeles to stop him pushing her sister down a flight of stairs.
She told the court that during another fight they had in December 2015, her then-husband headbutted her before punching her “repeatedly with his fist.”
She said: “I don’t even remember feeling the pain, I just remember hearing the sound of Johnny’s voice.”
“He got next to my face and he was screaming over and over again, each time it sounded louder and more desperate, ‘I f***ing hate you, I f***ing hate you, I f***ing hate you’ over and over.
“Then pounding the back of my head, pounding it with his fist, and I don’t even remember feeling pain, I just could hear myself scream until I couldn’t hear myself any more.

“I could just hear him say that he was going to kill me and that he sounded like an animal in pain when he was saying that he ‘f***ing hated’ me.
“He sounded like he was crying, or that something in his voice was different, like he sounded like he was in agony, it was high-pitched and loud.”
She added: “I don’t know how many times, he just hit me over and over again and I got really still and it felt in my body like quiet.
“And I thought ‘this is how I die, he is going to kill me now’ he is going to kill me and he won’t even have realised it.”
The jury was also shown a number of photographs of injuries Heard claimed she suffered at the hands of Depp, including one picture alleging to show some of her hair that she says he pulled from her head.

Earlier in the trial, Depp denied ever assaulting Heard, and has claimed he was the one that experienced domestic abuse.
Depp is currently suing his former wife Heard for defamation over an op-ed she wrote in 2018 in which she discussed the subject of domestic abuse.
Depp and his lawyers argue that the Washington Post piece falsely implies that Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp while they were married from 2015 to 2017. He is seeking $50m in damages.
Heard is in turn suing her former husband, accusing him of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and labelling his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”
