Not the best way to wish your star man a speedy recovery

Al Hilal have been criticised on social media after posting a bizarre graphic wishing Neymar well following news of his latest injury.

Neymar left the pitch in tears as he was stretchered off with a suspected injury during Brazil’s game against Uruguay on Tuesday.

It was then confirmed on Wednesday that the 31-year-old had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee and is now facing a race to be fit in time for Brazil’s Copa America campaign in the United States next summer.

The Brazil captain joined Al Hilal in a £78m deal this summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Since making the move to the Middle East, Neymar has only scored once, against Iranian side FC Nassaji Mazandaran in the AFC Champions League earlier this month.

Upon confirmation of his injury, Al Hilal posted a graphic wishing their star man a healthy recovery but many fans felt the choice of graphic was made in poor taste after it featured an image of the moment he suffered the injury.

One fan wrote: “Possibly the most unhinged graphic I’ve ever seen from a team account.”

A second added: “I just want to know who gave the go ahead for that graphic.

“Could’ve just used a picture of him scoring a goal or something tbh,” said a third.

Another commented: “Al-Hilal clearly spent all of PIF money on players this summer. There was no money over to the social media team.

“This is the craziest injured player announcement graphic i’ve ever seen,” a fifth added.

Neymar also posted to Instagram, saying: “It’s a very sad moment, the worst. I know I’m strong but this time I’ll need my (family and friends) even more.

“It’s not easy going through injury and surgery, imagine going through all that again after 4 months of recovery.

“I have faith, even too much… But the strength I put in the hands of God so that he can renew mine. Thanks for the messages of support and love.”
