Zayn Malik is definitely the coolest one out of One Direction.
Just like Robbie Williams in the 1990s, if you duck out early enough you can leverage your boyband fame into becoming a proper grown up pop star. Sure, Harry Styles was in a Christopher Nolan film, and ‘Sign of the Times’ was a legit banger, but Zayn has consistently put out silky smooth RnB tunes, and worked with artists like M.I.A. and Sia. It feels like he might actually be still putting out good records long after Liam Payne and Cheryl’s inevitable ITV2 show gets cancelled.
A big part of escaping a boyband is reinvention – and Zayn’s certainly done that. But he’s just gone through another look change. He’s what Zayn looked like in January:
Since then, he’s shaved his head, and gotten a massive tattoo on his skull, and he looks pretty different.
