We're not sure it's a good idea to rock the boat when it comes to One Direction fans, so what Louis Tomlinson did when he appeared on The X-Factor at the weekend we wouldn't advise anyone do.
Leaving One Direction fans devastated, the former group member not only referred to his role in the band using the past tense but he also minimised them to being just 'a band' - as if they aren't one of the most successful boy bands of all-time.
As he helped contestant Brendan Murray prepare for his first X-Factor show, after Murray admitted to Tomlinson that he joined a boy band at 16 and was disappointed that they failed to become successful, Tomlinson replied, "I get it, I used to be in a band. You want to move on from it."
Alluding to the fact that One Direction's supposed hiatus is more than that, he upset quite a few fans when shining a light on the possibility that their break might be more permanent than fans initially thought.

One Direction went on hiatus after their last performance in December 2015, with Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik all going on to pursue solo careers. The band however never ruled out getting back together again some time in the future.
Tomlinson’s Twitter bio still reads, "1/4 of One Direction."
