JLS star Oritse Williams charged with raping a fan in a hotel room

Singer Oritse Williams, formerly of boyband JLS, has been charged with raping a fan in a hotel room after a show.

31-year-old Williams was arrested by West Midlands Police on December 2nd, 2016, after performing at the Gorgeous club in Wolverhampton the night before.

Williams denied the accusations in a statement released by his management at the time of the arrest.

Another man, 31-year-old Jamien Nagadhana, 31, of Hounslow, London, has also been charged in relation to the incident.

JLS came to fame on the 2008 series of The X-Factor, where Oritse Williams, along with bandmates Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, and JB Gill, came runner-up to winner Alexandra Burke.

Following the show, the band went onto have success with hits like “Everybody In Love” and “The Club Is Alive”. They also won two BRIT Awards and five MOBO awards.

The band split in 2013, and Williams released his first solo album in 2015.
