Breaking records as well as breaking down MCs

Eminem’s recently released diss track “Killshot” – a reply to Machine Gun Kelly’s “Rap Devil” – is now the largest debut of any Hip Hop record in the history of YouTube.

The official audio for “Killshot” earned a record 38.1 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours of its release last Friday. It’s now had over 80 million views on the site.

According to YouTube, “Killshot” also had the third-highest debut of any song in the site’s history, and the track is currently on top of the site’s U.S. trending chart.

The beef between the two rappers indirectly started back in 2012 when MGK tweeted that Em’s daughter, Hailie Jade, was “hot as fuck”.

And while there has been a few subliminal disses thrown Eminem’s way over the years in the form of freestyles and on guest spots by the Cleveland rapper, Eminem threw the first overt punch by calling MGK out on the song “Not Alike” from his new album, Kamikaze, which topped the Billboard 200 album chart after its release on August 31st.

“I’m talkin’ to you, but you already know who the fuck you are, Kelly / I don’t use sublims and sure as fuck don’t sneak-diss / But keep commenting on my daughter Hailie.”

11 days after MGK released “Rap Devil”, the first response by any individual called out by Eminem on Kamikaze, Eminem released “Killshot”.

The video for MGK’s “Rap Devil,” released September 3rd via WorldStarHipHop’s YouTube page, now has over 98 million views.

Eminem sat down with Sway Calloway last week in a four part interview and explained why he dissed MGK:

“The reason that I dissed him is because he got on—first he said, ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade 45,’ or whatever he said, right? Like I’m trying to hinder his career. ‘I don’t give a fuck about your career. You think I actually fuckin’ think about you? You know how many fuckin’ rappers that are better than you? You’re not even in the fuckin’ conversation.'”
