More information about the life of Swedish DJ Avicii has continued to emerge in the time since his tragic passing just over a week ago.

According to reports, Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) donated the majority of his earnings to charities he was passionate about.

The DJ donated the entire income from his US tour back in 2012 to Feeding America, according to The Mirror.

The producer is also said to have donated another $1million once the 27-date tour had finished.

A year later, Avicii donated another million to an organisation in his home country of Sweden, Radiohjälpen.

Speaking about his incredible generosity, Avicii said in an interview in 2013 that it only felt right to give some of his fortune away.

“I discovered when I started making money that I didn’t really need it,” the producer who earned $60million in the height of his career said.

“When you have such an excess of money you don’t need, the most sensible, most human and most completely obvious thing is to give to people in need.”

The star died last week while on holiday in Oman at the age of just 28.
