Woman who ‘died for 11 minutes and came back to life’ explains what she saw in hell

'God took me to hell'

Charlotte Holmes, from Wichita, Kansa, was undergoing a routine check-up with her cardiologist in back in 2019 when her blood pressure soared to a dangerously high level.

She was warned she was at high likelihood of suffering a stroke or heart attack, and she was quickly sent to hospital.

It was there, in hospital, that her heart stopped for 11 minutes and she was declared clinically dead.

Her husband Danny was watching on and at the time, and her recalled the harrowing moment that everyone feared the worst.

Speaking to The 700 Club, he said: "Immediately, they call this code and everybody started rushing in. They just started working on her, and I thought, well, I'm wondering if I'm even going to be able to bring her home."

Whilst doctors did their best to revive her, Charlotte was apparently experiencing a glimpse into an 'afterlife.'

She recalled: "I could smell the most beautiful flowers I've ever smelled, and then I heard music.

"When I opened my eyes, I knew where I was. I knew I was in heaven."

Danny said he realised at this moment that "she was not in this world."

Describing the afterlife, Charlotte said it was a place of "pure joy" and that everything around her seemed to move in harmony with the music she heard, VT reports.

"I can't convey to you what heaven looked like, because it's so above what we can even imagine, a million times," she explained, claiming she was escorted deeper into heaven by a group of angels.

"There's no fear, it's like pure joy when the angels take over," she continued.

Charlotte claimed she saw her parents, sister and other family members, saying they didn't look sick and all looked like "they were in their 30s."

She then experienced a deeply emotional moment when she saw a child she didn't recognise.

"I can remember thinking, 'who is this,'" she said. "And I heard my heavenly father say to me, 'It's your child.'"

"I lost that child. I was five-and-a-half months pregnant. I can remember them holding the baby up and saying, 'Charlotte, it's a boy'. Then he was gone.

"So when I seen this toddler, I said, 'God, how is that possible?' He said, 'They continue to grow in heaven - but there's no time, it's eternity.'"

It wasn't just heaven that Charlotte claimed to see, with the woman saying she was also 'taken to hell' by God as a "warning."

She said: "God took me to hell, and I looked down and the smell, and the rotten flesh - that's what it smelled like... and screams," she explained. "After seeing the beauty of heaven, the contrast to seeing hell is almost unbearable.

"He says, 'I show you this to tell you, if some of them do not change their ways, this is where they shall reside.' I heard my father say, 'You have time to go back and share.'"

It was after this that Charlotte said she could feel herself being "drawn back" into her body.

After 11 minutes of her heart not beating, she was revived and went on to make a full recovery, being released from hospital two weeks later.

Sadly, Charlotte passed away on November 8, 2023, after a heart attack at the age of 72.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Danny, their daughter Chrystal, and her grandchildren.
