Air traffic controllers on the continent are on strike today, and both Ryanair and BA are amongst numerous airlines that are affected by the industrial action.
The former has already cancelled 444 departures, whilst the latter latter has cancelled 40 flights due of the first French air-traffic control strike of the year. EasyJet says it expects to cancel between 30 and 40 flights on Monday.
BA has also cancelled a further six departures because of a week-long stoppage by some cabin crew. The air traffic controllers are taking action over a range of issues, including rostering and pay. They say their counterparts in Germany earn much more for less work.
Services flying through French air space may also be affected throughout the day. The industrial action is expected to continue until Friday evening, and passengers are not entitled to cash compensation for delays and cancellations.
