Recruiter’s advice to women at job interviews has been slammed as sexist

What was he thinking? 

A career advisor and recruiter has made some comments about what a woman should do before an interview and it has not gone down well at all. He posted a blog on Linkedin where he wanted to give some advice to any woman going for a job interview. Believe it or not, his advice is as follows - don't wear your engagement ring. The reason being that he believes recruiters see this as a possible problem in the future. That problem being that you might upset some other women in the office by the size of your ring. He says that recruiters assume that you are high maintenance if you have a ring on your finger and that it will make things awkward for the other women in the office. He explained:

"When a man sees that ring he immediately assumes you are high maintenance.  When the woman at the office who has the largest diamond on her finger, sees that ring, she will realize that if you are hired she will fall to second place and will, therefore, not like you. Lose the ring!"

People have been less than impressed and left their own opinion on the matter in the comments section with one person saying, "This is ridiculous drivel. As the former SVP of recruitment and talent for a Fortune 50 company I would FIRE any firm who gave this kind of advice to candidates. It's biased. It's ridiculous and it makes women sound petty and small. Welcome to 2016 Mr. Hurwitz you may want to join us here." Another person commented, "I see a lot of sub-par content on Linkedin and look the other way. But THIS! Darkest corners of hell are reserved for those who say nothing and I don't want to get there. This is sexist, judgmental, archaic, and downright inappropriate." The mind boggles.
