Officers attended the scene and spoke to the two men about the alleged incident. Thankfully, or perhaps unfortunately, no arrests were made. Southern Rail has confirmed that as a result the service was forcibly terminated at Gatwick.
In total, the train was held for 30 minutes. A spokesman for Southern said:
"We were called to Hove station at 7.19am on Monday, May 23 to reports of an assault on board a train.
