Given the dearth of quality defending in the Premier League so far this season, we didn't expect to see many familiar names in the top ten FIFA 16 defensive ratings.

However, you would be forgiven for thinking that more than one Premier League centre-back would have made the cut - especially when that individual is Arsenal's Per Mertesacker. Considering Manchester City's five clean sheets in their first five matches, Vincent Kompany might feel aggrieved at his absence, while Mertesacker's teammate Laurent Koscielny may also be scratching his head. There's no arguing about the number-one choice, though, with the imperious Thiago Silva rightly sitting at the top of the pile. The full list is below.
