Geometry, trigonometry, algebra... high-school Mathematics is definitely no joke.
In fact, it can have a pretty stressful effect on the lives of millions of teenagers every year.
But fear no more!
A new video from Science girl on social media platform 'X' shows a genius way to work our percentages without a calculator.
There's more than one way to skin a cat, and there's more than one way to solve a percentage.
Many people opt for the method of multiplying the starting number by the percentage number as a fraction.
So for example:
To get 60 percent of 80, you multiply 80 by 0.6, giving you 48.
It's a quick and sure-fire way to get the answer you need IF you have a calculator handy.
But what if your phone is dead? What then?
The video posted to the account @gunsnrosesgirl3 demonstrates the easy hack that doesn't require a phone or calculator.
To do a percentage, you simply divide both numbers by ten and then multiply them by each other.
So, 40 percent of 30 is 4 x 3, which equals 12.
Users have been absolutely mesmerised by the method, with many asking why we don't learn it growing up.
One user asked: "How come I did not know about this formula?"
While another wondered: "Why is this method not popularised in educational books to teach students?"
To be honest, it's a good question!
So, next time you're out for dinner and need to calculate a tip, remember the teachings of Science girl.
