Paradise.
As the rain pours in the middle of July, it can be tempting to sit there and daydream in vain of travel to far and distant shores in search of sun, sand, and happiness too.
But in recent years, we've enjoyed nice summers here in good old Blighty and sometimes, travelling just a little down the road can be equally as satisfying.
There's many beautiful parts of the United Kingdom. From Whitby to Edinburgh, Barmouth to Bournemouth. But one little island has recently been making headlines after being labeled 'paradise' by stay-cation loving holidaymakers.
Caldey Island, just off the coast of Tenby in Pembrokeshire, is just 1.5 miles long and 1 mile wide.
Owned by monks and home to a grand monastery, the island is home to only 40 permanent residents but is visited by numerous tourists every year who go to Caldey to check out its natural beauty.
The island is accessed via a passenger boat which sets sail from Castle Beach in Tenby and costs just £15. Return tickets can be found at a kiosk on the shore and the journey itself is only 20 minutes long.
One TikTok user, by the name of Clare, recently visited the island described it as: "Paradise in west Wales."
Other visitors have flocked to TripAdvisor to leave rave reviews for the island. One person wrote: "The island is stunning. A little bit of paradise. We saw so much wildlife including dolphins, porpoises, seals, jellyfish, loads of different birds, and a single red squirrel."
Another said: "Great day out. Lovely trip. The homemade chocolate is lovely and there are lots to see and do."
Caldey Island is a must.
