‘I pulled my kids out of their school because their teacher is fat’

JOE

‘You are not an inspiring human being’

Parents often have a lot to say about what their children’s teacher is doing right or wrong.

But one dad has taken issue with something completely unrelated to how the teacher performed in the classroom.

He thought she was overweight, so overweight he pulled his kid from the school.

In a TikTok video, best-selling author, real estate guru and influencer, Kris Krohn, told his 1.2 million followers about the day he decided his teacher was not the right person to school his kid.

Kris was at a parent-teacher conference and “the teacher was 200 pounds overweight.”

“I looked at her and I said, ‘No, you’re low energy, you’re depressed. You’re spending more time with my kid during the day probably than I am. And I’m concerned with the amount of influence that you’re exerting’.”

He went on: “Because what you’re teaching is not what’s in the book, it’s how you’re living your life. You are not an inspiring human being.”

Kris went on to say that he thought that most teachers are “uninspired and don’t like what they do.”

“And then there’s a really cool system that will keep them job protection forever. You can’t get fired, so they can hate it.”

Kris explained that teachers have “one of the most important jobs under the worst paid” and lamented that the “whole system is wrong.”

“If you were to put your kid in public school, what do you think the teacher should be? My teachers get a ten thousand dollar raise every year. There’s 70, 80 thousand dollars a year.

“And I get to pick the teacher. I’m picking the coolest, most experienced, fittest.”

Kris said teachers needed to school kids on “meaning, teach me fulfilment and teach me happy.”

“A great teacher has world experience in their 40s and 50s and still can relate really well to a child. If I had a choice between a 30-year-old and a 50-year-old, I’d take the older one.”

While many commenters were concerned with Kris focussing on the teacher’s weight, his arguments resonated with a lot of people.

One teacher commented: “I’m overweight and a great teacher! I may not be cool and fit but I’m really good at what I do. You make some great points but lost me on weight shame.”

“The worst part of this is you led with body shaming,” another commenter added. “All of your points about the value of teachers and money make some sense, you just started with bias.”

Another person said they don’t understand why the US “pays teachers so poorly”. A third added that they had got a teaching licence at 50 and “love my kids, hate the pay.”

But not everyone went so easy on Kris: “Just another alpha male talking about something he knows nothing about. The reason teachers hate their job is because a****** adults have a****** kids,” one person wrote.

Another added: “I’m glad you pulled your kids out. They would probably fat shame people like you do and we definitely don’t need any more negativity in this world!”
