How much you should spend on your partner this Christmas has been revealed

Friends and family are par for the course when it comes to gifts but some will also have their partner to consider.

While we all know that it's the thought put into the present as oppose to the price of the gift received, adults are still splashing the cash for their other half's.

CouponBirds surveyed 2,000 adults to find out just how much people are splashing out on their partners for Christmas.

On average, people are spending a whopping £144.37 with men spending an average of £178.81.

Women tend to spend slightly less, averaging at £125.77 on their partners.

Younger people are at the lower end of the spending scale, with 18–24-year-olds averaging at £105.22 compared to £165.71 by the 35-44 lot.

Only two per cent of the 2,000 asked revealed that they would spend over £400 on their loved ones.

Even though people are willing to pay a high price to make their partner's Christmas that little bit more magical, it turns out that you don't need to spend as much as you think.

Shoppers expect their better halves to spend about £10 less than they’d splash themselves, at an average of £137.66.

At the end of the day, Christmas is all about being together, eating food and having a laugh, not spending a fortune on gifts.
