For Brits who don’t want to break the bank, a tiny island in Europe is a hidden gem that boasts incredible food, breathtaking views and fun activities for tourists.
You are probably one of the many people who have heard of mainland Malta but not of its sister island which you can access via a short journey by ferry.
The tiny island Gozo is a more tranquil, less crowded option and it’s a spectacular gem hidden in plain view, as it delivers an impressive array of attractions in spite of its size.
There you can find diverse sites, pursuits and scenery which are yet to be discovered.
How can you get there?
It’s pretty easy, you can start by flying into Malta's principal international airport, then hop aboard either a brief but picturesque 25-minute ferry from the Cirkewwa terminal in Malta's north or a 45-minute crossing from the gorgeous capital Valletta to Gozo.
At the moment, the Express reports that, UK flights to Malta are reasonably priced, merely £35 one-way at the time of writing for a direct service from London Stansted Airport to Malta International Airport on February 26, with complimentary allowance for one cabin bag included.
Or in March as little as £26 one-way from London according to flight comparison site Skyscanner. While flights from Newcastle are £41, and from Manchester or Glasgow at £49 on the website.
If you visit the island of Gozo during the February/March period, a big advantage is its climate this time of year.
It offers classic Mediterranean sunshine and gentle breezes to keep you perfectly comfortable on a bright, sunny afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 16C to 20C.
To top things off, booze is fairly inexpensive, as you can find a cold pint of local beer for just £1.80.
The waters in Gozo are crystal-clear and the island has an abundance of pristine beaches, nestled away from the tourist bustle.
For Brits looking a new experience, this Maltese gem is exceptional and to make your time even more delightful, there is a limited number of tourists.
