Being hilarious and really, really, ridiculously good looking is not the key to getting a girlfriend

It turns out the real way to a woman's heart is simply being a bloody nice bloke.

All this time you've thought it was chiselled good looks and an endless stream of hilarious one-liners that gave you the best crack at getting a girlfriend, but a lot of women seeking a relationship have a particular attraction to altruistic men. A study from the journal of Evolutionary Psychology called on a sample of 202 women to choose their ideal men. They were shown a mixture of traditionally good-looking and not so good-looking guys, some of which had done a good, selfless deed, while others hadn't. The results indicated that the female participants were more likely to want a relationship with one of the nice guys, regardless of how physically attractive they found them to be. Single do-gooders also stood a better chance of being in a relationship the following year. On the other hand, selfish, good-looking men were preferred for one night stands. So basically, the ago old mantra of "nice guys finish last" is a load of old rubbish and being a self-obsessed d*ckhead will only get you so far in life. That's not to say you should only do good deeds to impress women. We think that possibly defeats the point of kindness. Be a top guy because you want to be a top guy. Everything else is just a (welcome) bonus.
