Just don’t do it…

You know when sometimes words just aren’t enough to get your point across?

In the modern dating world, the opening line is crucial if you want to secure a date, fall in love, get married, have kids, have grandkids… we may be getting a little ahead of ourselves.

But emojis have a vital place in modern day text conversations, they’re a great icebreaker and are useful stop gap if you struggle with your wittiness (we all do). A few well-placed laughing emojis can buy you precious seconds to craft a clever reply.

The team over at Clover, a dating app, put together an infographic with data from their user base of more than 3 million people and the interactions between them.

They established which emojis are the best for you to use in the opening message of a conversation in order to get a reply.

For men thinking of writing to a prospective member of the opposite sex, the phallic-shaped aubergine is definitely not the way to go according to the research. But then again, you probably knew that already.

But they’ve got a whole host of options that might work for you, just take a look at the infographic below.
