Too good to be true, right?
Tesco is selling bottles of Prosecco for a fiver. Yes, you read that correctly, A FIVER! The supermarket is offering the deal for Valentine’s Day so you’re going to have to act fast! Or maybe not.
Both La Fornarina Prosecco and Amanti Prosecco Frizzante are available for the knock-down price per 75cl bottle for a limited time only. Customer quotas apply, with a maximum of 3 bottles per customers, while stocks last.
But what’s the catch? Well it may cost the customer their conscience.
The deal is taking place largely in Ireland – where it happened to coincide with a staff strike over changes to contracts of the company’s longest-serving workers.
Union leaders claim Tesco workers hired before 1996 will lose 15% of their pay and have to work more flexible hours.
Many feel the price-slashed Prosecco is a sneaky way of getting people to cross the picket line and not show solidarity with those striking:
Prosecco a fiver at Tesco? Nice try. I'm not crossing a picket for that! ?
