Irish fans outdo themselves by trying to get French baby off to sleep with train lullaby

In France and need a babysitter?

Irish fans will not rest until they get every baby in France to sleep by dark.

The behaviour of the Republic of Ireland’s supporters at Euro 2016 has made headlines the world over and while certain curmudgeons are getting sick of it, it would take a special kind of crank not to enjoy this.

In Bordeaux, the location of Ireland’s Group E defeat to Belgium, a group of kindly fans were on a train and grew brilliantly concerned about the well-being of a baby who was understandably wide awake.

You’d think that a 3-0 loss would have dampened the Irish spirits, but apparently it wasn’t so as they were still happy to sing all night, even if just to help a tired French baby.

The supporters broke into a rendition of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ to try to get the toddler off but were rudely interrupted by some rowdier fans who had just entered the carriage.

A burst of ‘Hush, Little Baby’ followed and as some less concerned people on the carriage began uttering some less baby-friendly chants, they were told to shut up or face the consequences.

How do you not love the Irish?
