Passengers are advised to check their flight status online in advance of departure today.
Flights across all of Europe are facing delays all day and night on Tueday 3 April, and perhaps even passed that date, due to a technical failure at Eurocontrol, the agency which manages air traffic control in the European Union.
The company posted an update on Twitter on Tueday afternoon, stating the problem with the Enhanced Tactical Flow Management System had been identified and they were working to recover the system, which was expected to happen late on Tueday night.
Earlier on Tueday, Eurocontrol stated that due to the technical failure, a reduction of up to 10% of all of Europe's air traffic would need to be implemented as part of a contingency measure.
Following that announcement however, RTE News reported the Agence France Presse news agency revealed that Eurocontrol has since said that up to approximately half of all flights in Europe could be facing delays over the day.
