Turns out there’s a secret one-handed iPhone keyboard we’re not allowed to use

Maybe Apple want us to stop texting on the toilet.

A clever tech developer has discovered a new Apple hack, hiding deep in your iPhone.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith from Ireland has found code for a a keyboard which requires only one hand.

Weirder still is this feature has been hanging around in our phones since the age of iOS 8 in 2014.

Why have Apple withheld a feature that would allow all of us multi-taskers to text and tweet easily?  Who knows. Maybe it would have broken the iOS system. Or maybe Apple didn’t want to make texting any easier in case we got into any more phone related accidents.

From tweets, Steve has shown that with one swipe across the keyboard, the keys are closer together and can be tailored for right-handed people or lefties.

There’s still no word yet on whether Apple are planning to release this feature. It could come with iOS 11. It could take us the best part of a decade for it to happen, like when we asked to delete the “Stocks” app.
