This video of an elephant rushing into water to save a man is incredible

This is truly amazing.

Once common throughout Africa and Asia, elephant numbers were severely depleted during the 20th century, largely due to the massive ivory trade.

Although some populations have now stabilised, poaching, conflict and habitat destruction continue to threaten the species. If we’re not careful, they could be gone in a generation or two.

But whilst we humans treat such magnificent beasts deplorably, the actions are gladly not reciprocated, especially judging from this amazing video of a little elephant dashing out to rescue a man she thought was drowning.

Kham Lha, the youngest elephant at Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand, is very close to staff member Darrick. So when she saw Darrick neck deep in water, she assumed he was in peril and rushed to his aid.

According to the Metro, Kham Lha is one of 19 elephants that the sanctuary rescued from the tourism industry in 2015. She certainly seems very grateful.
