There’s an easy fix for one of the most frustrating issues for iPhone users

Unlocking your phone doesn't need to be so complicated.

This should ease a lot of people’s frustration.

Upgrades in technology are always welcome, but it seems that the arrival of every iOS update brings with a whole host of new issues for iPhone users.

The most recent update, iOS 10, arrived in September of this year and promised to deliver the most advanced operating system yet.

But for many people, it was a case of Apple trying to fix something that wasn’t broken as they created an issue out of simply accessing the phone having redesigned the lock screen experience after eliminating the ‘Slide to Unlock’ feature.

Users had complained of needlessly complicating the process of simply getting from the locked phone to their home screen and wanted a return to the old way of doing things.

While sliding to unlock appears to be gone entirely, you can still free up your device by placing your finger on the Home button – provided your print is registered with Touch ID, just like before.

Complaints from users harking for the good old days prompted Apple to issue these directions on how to do so.

To reiterate, simply follow the instructions below:

  • Open Settings
  • Scroll down and tap on General
  • Tap on Accessibility
  • Scroll down and tap on Home Button
  • Enable Rest Finger to Open

It’s not quite got the simplicity of sliding to unlock if you don’t want to register your fingertip with Apple, but it’s better than nothing.
