Pub apologises after pint-loving priests are mistaken for a stag party in Cardiff

Paul Moore

Seven priests walk into a bar…

Our friends, Who art in the pub
Hallowed be thy pints;
Thy round does come,
Thy will be done,
in the local as we are in heaven.
Give us this day our daily pints,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against buying a round;
and lead us into pint temptation,
and deliver us from evil. Pints.

To be honest, a large part of us was secretly hoping that this prayer was said by seven Roman Catholic priests as they recently celebrated their friend being ordained in Cardiff.

After a rather whimsical mix-up, pub bosses have pleaded with the Lord for forgiveness after they asked this group of priests to leave their venue after accidentally mistaking these men of God for a stag party that were wearing fancy dress.

To the immense credit of Matt Morgan, assistant manager at The City Arms in Cardiff, he apologised and gave these priests a free round of drinks. See, he didn’t even have to say a decade of the rosary in penance.

Speaking with the BBC, he said that the priests were “all great sports and saw the funny side of the situation. The staff thought they were a stag. We do have quite a few issues on the weekends with parties wearing fancy dress so it is our policy to turn them away.”

If only they were trapped in a lingerie store! Now where did we see that before?

To quote Father Dougal McGuire “god I love being a priest. We’re all going to heaven lads, wahey!”
