There are suggestions that it could be a baby

Police in Virginia are hunting a woman who dumped a bloodied backpack, believed to contain human remains, in a store dumpster.

Chesterfield County Police were called to the shop at around 1.50pm on Monday to reports of an unidentified woman throwing the suspicious bag into a nearby dumpster on Hull Street.

The woman then proceeded to walk into the store without her bag and left almost immediately.

“A store employee checked the backpack, saw what appeared to be blood on it and called police,” read the statement from the police department.

“Officers on scene found what appeared to be human remains in the backpack,” it continued.

Crime insider sources told WTVR that the remains could be that of a baby, but police are yet to confirm that.

A medical examiner is also yet to investigate the remains.

According to WTVR, the bloodied backpack had identifiers on it that could direct detectives to a local high school.
