The pilot of a Polish Air flight was forced to abandon an attempted landing in Salzburg and return to its point of origin, in Frankfurt, due to high winds brought on by Storm Herwart over the weekend.

Footage of the attempted landing showed the plane hitting the tarmac shortly after a strong crosswind caused the right wing to drop, before it returned to the air on Sunday.

According to a report in the Aviation Herald, the plane performed a go-around but was forced to return to Frankfurt.

Several cities reported states of emergency during the weekend storm, which killed at least five people in Poland, Czech Republic and Germany, injured several others and caused power outages for thousands of people.
