Genius inventor creates go-kart by fusing a swegway and a beer crate

Finally, a good use for hoverboards

Rich Cooper

The wheel. Drainage. The combustion engine. The telephone. Computers. The internet.

And now, this.

A genius has created what might be the greatest invention of the decade. Remember hoverboards? Or swegways? Or whatever you called those plastic planks on wheels that you stood on, went forward and promptly fell off?

The fad came and went pretty quickly (how often do you see people riding around on them these days?) but the hoverboards remained, many gathering dust at the back of cupboards.

They were just too impractical, too easy to fall off, too… daft. But necessity is the mother of invention, and someone has converted a swegway into a much easier and frankly much more impressive mode of transportation.

Behold.

This fine piece of engineering appears to have come out of The Bronx, New York City. A swegway, a beer crate and a trolley have been fused together to create a simple yet incredibly effective go-kart.

The man in the video zips along happily, getting a decent turn of speed and a surprising amount of control over the vehicle. You could call it a contraption, but that would undermine the brilliance of it. This is a full-blown invention, my friends.

And in the replies to the above tweet, there was some very important advice.

Do it, dude! Go and claim your millions.
