Drunk tourist accidentally climbs mountain as he tries to walk back to hotel

We've all been there...

We’ve all been there…

Out for a few too many beers, you decide to make it home on foot, only to find yourself standing at the summit of an Alpine mountain.

Actually, no. No we haven’t all been there.

One Estonian man, however, has – as has been reported in Italy.

On holiday in the Italian resort of Cervinia, it’s claimed by La Stampa that the man – in his twenties and known only as ‘Pavel’ – took a wrong turn as he tried to walk back to his hotel after having a few drinks.

Believing he was walking up a snowy street, the man was oblivious to the fact he was actually walking up one of the resort’s many ski runs.

It’s reported he reached Igloo, a bar and restaurant situated above Cervinia, at some point between 2am and 3am. There, he was able to break in and, having downed a couple of bottles of water to help rehydrate himself, passed out on a bench.

While Pavel made his way up the mountain, a search party had been dispatched to try and find him. Local police and members of the fire service took part, with drones also being deployed.

It’s now expected that Pavel will be fined for his night-time ascent although he isn’t expected to be charged.
