You've heard of Paul the Octopus, now let us introduce you to Taiyo the Otter
A mystic otter managed to predict Japan's shock win over Germany and could become this year's Paul the Octopus.
On Wednesday, Japan pulled off arguably the biggest result in their footballing history after they came from behind to beat the
four-time world champions 2-1 in their opening game of the
2022 World Cup.
And although the scoreline was a shock to most of the footballing world, it may not have been much of a surprise to one otter in Japan.
Taiyo, a Small-Clawed Otter from Maxell Aqua Park, tipped Hajime Moriyasu’s side to stun the Germans in Qatar.
The little fella was given three buckets with Japan, Germany, and ‘draw’ written on them, and was then given a little football to place into whichever bucket he fancied.
Before the contest, he went straight over to the Japanese bucket and dropped the ball in there.

Taiyo's correct prediction has dug up memories of ‘Paul the Octopus’ from the 2010 World Cup. The sea creature shot to international stardom during the tournament in South Africa by predicting the results in Germany's campaign.
Paul amazingly finished the tournament with a 100 percent success rate. Among the eight matches he correctly predicted, he foresaw Germany’s win over Serbia in their second group match, their exit to eventual winners Spain in the semi-final, and the eventual winner of the tournament when Spain lined up against the Netherlands.
Only time will tell whether Taiwo can match Paul's lofty achievements, and join him in the mystic animal hall of fame.
