PlayStation fans left furious as PS6 release timeline is leaked

Many gamers feel as though this generation of consoles has been a waste.

Despite the PS5 Pro only being released in November of last year, it appears as though Sony has their eyes set on the next instalment of the PlayStation series.

Many outlets have reported that Christmas 2027 will potentially see the release of the PS6.

If this release date is correct then the PS5 will have only had a life cycle of seven years, with many fans feeling as though the leap to the next generation is coming too soon.

One PlayStation fan wrote on X: “Too soon, they didn’t even exploit the power of the console like they did with the ps4, this generation is a disaster in my eyes. this all in on games services…”

Another fan speculated: “Too soon – This must mean the Pro doesn’t run GTA 6 like they hoped.”

One gamer wrote: “Too soon! You say “likely” in a way that you’ve been told this or is this pure speculation? The PS5 Pro literally released a few months ago & now you’re anticipating the PS6. So the PS5 Pro was underwhelming, correct?”

The overall consensus is that the PS5 has not been given the proper time flourish during its cycle.

However, some fans have pointed out that there was a similar gap between the PS4 and PS5.

PlayStation 5’s release did go through a lot of teething problems, with many fans unable to purchase the console at release as it was snapped up so quickly by resellers.

In May of last year, Sony released figures indicating that the PS5 had sold 59 million units.

They also said that at the time that PlayStation Network had 118 million monthly active users.

This meant that 50% of players were still using a PS4.
