Epic Games, the makers of Fortnite, have confirmed that the game is currently down for the foreseeable future for "emergency maintenance" due to upgrades taking place on their database.

The massively popular game - which sees 100 at first weaponless players dropped onto an island and face off in a battle royale - has been down since early this morning, infuriating plenty of late night players. While there was no explanation at first, Epic have since confirmed that maintenance is taking place on the game, though no official time or date has been given for its return. https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/984255246485606400 Understandably, this news has not been welcomed by devoted fans of the game, who have reacted to the news with a mix of annoyance and disbelief. https://twitter.com/etaw_/status/984335329107808256 https://twitter.com/ashleyrabadan/status/984326281943592960 https://twitter.com/chisum_24/status/984335009606549505 https://twitter.com/nKuchGaming/status/984329383795015680 https://twitter.com/sandraz816/status/984330761418526720 https://twitter.com/EnedeoGarza/status/984315096045244423
