While Warzone has continued to boast an absolutely massive player base - and it getting a highly anticipated follow-up to accompany this latest iteration - it's fair to say Vanguard didn't enjoy quite as warm a reception.
Nevertheless, the team behind this year's entry say this game is going to be "the most advanced experience in franchise history", with new technical advances graphics, lighting, sound and AI; a new leaked mode called 'DMZ' which looks to feature extraction type gameplay, and well as a strong narrative campaign that looks to with some of the series best stories.
Perhaps the best part of all, fans will be over the moon to hear the game will feature some of the series' favourite characters from down the years, including Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, Sergeant ‘Soap’ MacTavish and Captain Price. "Bravo Six, Going Dark".
It feels like the good old days when all you could think about was coming from school/work to play CoD until 4am with your mates. Get booking that week off, folks.
We're not getting too far ahead of ourselves - the proof is in the pudding and whatnot - but even those who have managed to get their hands on it, such as esports pros like 'Attach' have already predicted it will best "of all time".

The Modern Warfare II release date has been set for October 28 in the UK and across the globe, with the sequel coming more than two years on since the modern-day franchise was rebooted.
