Fear not, Manchester United fans. You may as well sit back, relax and dream of the Champions League quarter finals already.
Why? Well, according to Ray Wilkins, your team are pretty much stitched on to see off Sevilla in the last 16 stage.
Looking ahead to the first leg of United’s last 16 meeting with the La Liga side on Wednesday evening, Wilkins explained on talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Breakfast show that Jose Mourinho and his team have very little to fear.
Having conceded that the fixture is “tricky”, he then said:
“I don’t think it’s anything that should really stand in the way, is it? You know, where would Sevilla be in the Premier League? Bottom six? Probably.”
Yep, that’s right. Sevilla, who currently sit fifth in the La Liga table, would be in a battle to avoid relegation if they were in England’s top flight.
Hearing his comment, plenty of football fans have been quick to question how Wilkins formed such an opinion of the the team.
Sevilla have won 5 Europa Leagues in 10 years
And finished between 3rd and 9th in that period in La Liga. And won 2 Copa Del Reys & 2 Super Cups
Wilkins is chatting rubbish #sevilla https://t.co/p5Q4ZbNtbh

As a Chelsea boy, I've got a lot of time for Ray Wilkins but him suggesting that Sevilla would finish in the bottom 6 of the Premier League is hysterical. ?

Ray Wilkins: "You know, where would Sevilla be in the Premier League? Bottom 6? Probably."
They won the Europa league 3 times in the past 4 years, and are the most successful club to win it (5 times)?

Paul Pogba has returned to the United squad for the game having missed the weekend FA Cup win at Huddersfield due to illness. Alexis Sanchez is expected to make his Champions League bow for the club having signed for them from Arsenal in January.
