Coin thrown at Manchester United players during Arsenal FA Cup tie

The incident happened late in the game

A coin was thrown at Manchester United players during their 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup.

With about five minutes to go in the game, and United winning comfortably, a fracas broke out on the touchline involving several players. Marcus Rashford and Sead Kolasinac went head to head, and both received a yellow card.

Jesse Lingard was seen shouting at the nearby Arsenal fans, and he had to be pulled away by his teammates.

Replays on BBC’s live coverage showed a coin being thrown onto the pitch, which was picked up by Ashley Young.

Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring in the first half on his return the Emirates. A lovely through ball from Romelu Lukaku sliced open the Arsenal defence, and the Chilean was able to slot home from just outside the six-yard box.

Jesse Lingard doubled their lead just two minutes later, after a Manchester United counterattack.

Arsenal made things nervous for the visitors however when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back for Unai Emery’s side before half time, following great work from Aaron Ramsey.

It was not enough for the Londoners however, as Anthony Martial scored a third for United late on and secured the win.

The result extended Manchester United’s unbeaten run to eight games following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment.
