Arsene Wenger on Spurs being tired: "We speak too much about fatigue now"

"You have too many scientists today who convince you that you are tired"

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had his say on Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino's claims that his side was suffering from "stress and fatigue".

Wenger was doing punditry for BeIN Sports on Tottenham's defeat to Ajax on Tuesday night. Following the result, he was asked about Pochettino's comments.

Wenger replied:

"Fatigue, fatigue... you have too many scientists today who convince you that you are tired. I think we speak too much about fatigue now!"

The result continued a disappointing week for Tottenham, following their 1-0 loss to West Ham United on Saturday.

"The stress and the fatigue arrived. We are competing with circumstances that are not the best," Pochettino told the BBC after the home defeat. "We arrived for this game in a different condition and that was an important factor in the second half. It was really tough today."

"We cannot say now we were thinking about Tuesday. We wanted to win the three points to be in our position and arrive to the Champions League game in a very good mood and way, but it wasn't and now we need to move on."
