Tom Hardy looks unrecognisable as Al Capone in new gangster move Fonzo

Wil Jones

Tom Hardy loves completely transforming himself for a role

Having previously played both of the Kray twins, Hardy is now taking on the role of Al Capone in Fonzo, a new film focused on the final years of the Chicago mobster’s life.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:

“Once a ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.”

We’ve previously seen little glimpses of the transformation on Tom Hardy’s Instagram. But now we have the first official picture.

Fonzo is directed by Josh Trank, and also stars Linda Cardellini and Matt Dillon.
