Mark Hamill teases his new role as the voice of iconic horror movie villain Chucky

Carl Kinsella

This is so perfect.

While Mark Hamill will always be best known for his legendary role as Luke Skywalker throughout the Star Wars films, Hamill has actually spent many years of his career working as a voice actor.

Perhaps most notably, Hamill voiced The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series – which would suggest that he’s certainly the right man for his next role.

Speaking at WonderCon this weekend, director of the upcoming Child’s Play reboot Lars Klevberg confirmed that Hamill would be taking on the role of the movies antagonist Chucky.

If you’ve never seen the original, trust us that it’s not spoiling anything to say that Chucky is a murderous, sentient doll with bright red hair. Kind of the opposite of Luke Skywalker, in many ways.

Hamill himself confirmed the news on Twitter with a creepy short video that already has us hyped up for the main event.

Child’s Play, which is set for release in June later this year, will also star Aubrey Plaza, famous for her roles in Parks & Rec and Ingrid Goes West.
