Indiana Jones 5 set to start filming next week, Harrison Ford confirms

Please just let there be no fridges in this one

Harrison Ford has let slip that the long-awaited fifth Indiana Jones movie is set to start filming next week.

In an interview with Variety at the premiere of The Secret Life of Pets 2, where he plays a gruff but wise old farm dog, Ford was asked about Indy 5. And because Harrison Ford is old and gruff and doesn’t care what any publicist or exec might tell him to do, he just straight told the interviewer what was happening.

The next Indiana Jones movie “should be starting to shoot sometime next week,” Ford told Variety.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “Things are coming along well.”

Last month, Disney released an updated release schedule going up to 2027, which includes an Indiana Jones movie scheduled September 9th, 2021.

That release date had been mentioned before, but seeing on an updated release schedule confirmed that it was still happening.

Harrison Ford will be 79 by the time the film comes out. If the time difference in movies remains the same as it has been in real life – like Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull did – Indy 5 would take place in 1970. That’s a long way from the 1930s Nazi-punching era of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
