Here are all the best films on TV tonight

Weather is crap but there are some belters on TV

Outside is bad. Inside is good.

Storm Deirdre might be causing some trouble but at least there’s a decent selection of films on TV tonight.

Here’s the best of what’s in store.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back – 18:40 on ITV1.

A. Stonewall. Classic.

The Mask – 19:55 on ITV2

“Somebody, stop me!”

A Jim Carrey classic that ties in his physicality as a comedian with his rubber-faced brilliance. Also, Cameron Diaz made one of the most memorable introductions in cinema during *that* scene with *that* dress.

Rambo: First Blood Part II  – 21:00 on ITV4

More blood, more violence, more dead bodies. Same Stallone.

The Big Short – 21:00 on BBC2

Better known as the film that saw the director of Anchorman win an Oscar.

Don’t be fooled though, this is one of the cleverest and most frightening dramas that we’ve seen in recent years. It also boasts superb performances from Christian Bale and Steve Carrell. A film that’s bound to only get better with age.

Ghostbusters – 21:00 on Channel 4

Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth are great, the rest is just ok.

Taken 2 – 21:00 on E4

Liam Neeson and his wife are taken hostage. Particular set of skills are used to f**k people up.

Tremors – 23:05 on ITV4

Bonafide cult-classic that’s far funnier than it has any right to be. Having watched it again recently, it still stands up as a brilliant horror-comedy.

“Hey Melvin, wanna make a buck?”Always gold.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa – 23:45 BBC2

Partridge’s radio station is taken over by a new media conglomerate, it sets in motion a chain of events which see Alan having to work with the police to defuse a potentially violent siege. Has some great laughs and Colm Meaney is excellent throughout.

Insidious: Chapter 3  – 01:50 on Film4

The third chapter of Insidious. Enough said.
