Asked when she knew the show was a "big deal", Ryder said that she realised when promotion for the show landed in her email. "Well, I'm not on social media but I do remember the day it premiered, I got an email from Netflix changing my subscription price," she told hosts Josh Horowitz and Terri Schwartz. "It went from like $9.99 to $14.99 or the $12.99 and I was like, 'oh', but y'know, hey, and I still pay that bill." She added: "I think it's even higher now." While the moment happened a month ago, the clip has recently gone viral. "I love this woman so much," wrote one person. "Winona is so iconic". Another said: "She's an icon." A third added: "i really thought netflix would just give it to them for free." Netflix prices are a highly sensitive topic that has only been intensified by the arrival of Disney Plus. They announced in March that they would be increasing the price by £1 and premium subscriptions by £2. If that hadn't sealed its fate, Netflix then announced they would introduce advertisements to shows for a lower-priced package. Basically, watch Disney Plus instead.
